1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using LocalPDF ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

LocalPDF provides free online PDF tools whose supported workflows process document bytes within your web browser. The Service includes:

  • Merging and splitting PDF files
  • Compressing and optimizing PDFs
  • Converting between PDF and other formats
  • Adding watermarks, page numbers, and signatures
  • Password protecting PDFs
  • OCR (Optical Character Recognition)

3. Local Processing

All PDF processing occurs locally in your browser. Your files are not uploaded to our servers. This means you are responsible for maintaining backups of your original files and any processed output.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
  • Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
  • Use automated systems or software to extract data from the website
  • Remove any copyright or proprietary notices from the Service

5. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by LocalPDF and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You retain all rights to your own documents. We do not claim any ownership over the files you process using our tools.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:

  • Implied warranties of merchantability
  • Fitness for a particular purpose
  • Non-infringement
  • That the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free

7. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall LocalPDF, its directors, employees, or affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation loss of profits, data, or other intangible losses, resulting from your use or inability to use the Service.

8. File Processing Limitations

The Service has certain limitations based on browser capabilities:

  • Maximum single file size: approximately 100MB
  • Maximum total files per batch: 20 files or 200MB total
  • Maximum page count for processing: 500 pages

These limits may vary based on your device's memory and processing capabilities. We do not guarantee processing of files that exceed these limits.

9. Conversion Quality

PDF to Word/Excel conversions are performed using best-effort algorithms. Complex layouts, scanned documents, and special formatting may not convert perfectly. We recommend reviewing all converted documents and keeping backups of your original files.

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. We will notify users of any material changes by posting the new Terms on this page. Your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which LocalPDF operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
